cork-t20-cupThe Cork County Crusaders side were victorious in defending their title against the UCC Pirates at the Mardyke on Monday 15th August.

Winning the toss the Crusaders opted to chase and put the Pirates into bat, bowling them out for just 97. Excellent bowling and catching saw the wickets shared across the Crusaders attack with Brian Kelleher (3-13 from 3), Hugh O’Brien (2-15 from 2), Justin McGurk (2-16 from 4), Sachin Saxena (1-17 from 4), Haroon Saffi (0-10 from 2) and Sam Zai (1-21 from 3).

The chase was lead at a good pace by Aidan Kelleher (54 off 36 balls) and Scot Jeffers (32 off 36 balls), with Hugh O’Brien and Andrew O’Reilly at the crease to see the final winning runs onto the board in the 13th over of the reply.

Mention must go to John Simon and the Youth players involved throughout, especially Haroon Saffi, Daniel Kennedy, and Rioghan and Eshan O’Sullivan who all contributed in the various matches they took part in, and received their winners medals as part of the squad.

Thanks go to Umpires, Stephan Grobler and Muhammad Haroon for their adjudicating of the final and presenting the awards.

Congratulations to UCC Pirates for reaching the final and contesting it in good spirit, and especially to Kevin O’Sullivan in particular for his performances that saw him named Player of the Tournament. ‪#‎threepeat‬ ‪#‎WeAreCounty‬
