Cork County clinched a place in the Final of the Munster Senior Cup following a comprehensive 10 wicket victory over Midleton in the grounds of Midleton RFC. Having won the toss Midleton decided to have a bat on the artificial wicket but were soon pegged back by a tight opening spell of seam bowling from youngsters Hugh O’Brien (1-12) and Chris van Heerden (1-9). The left arm spin of Jack Reitchel (4-24) and aggressive medium/fast bowling of Bilal Ahmed (4-27) soon tore through the hosts batting ordered and reducing them to a total of 74.
In reply, County make short work of their run chase with openers Robin Russell (51 from 37 balls) and Stephan Grobler (17) easing them home to book their place in the Senior Cup Final against County Kerry on Saturday, 1st August.
