Cork County enjoyed a successful start in the inaugural Cork T20 Cup last Wednesday evening.
Midleton were the visitors to the Mardyke and having lost the toss Cork County ‘B’ were asked to bowl. A swift start by Midleton allowed them to reach 53-2 after just eight overs but the County bowlers did an excellent job wrestling back control of the game and eventually bowled the visitors out for 114.
County’s response started poorly losing five early wickets with just 64 on the board. Syed Rehman and his brother Nazim came to the home side’s rescue, the winning runs coming early in the 19th over.
County ‘B’ move on to face Harlequins ‘B’ at Farmers Cross next Wednesday night while Cork County ‘A’ take on UCC at the Mardyke on Monday night in the first semi-final of the competition.
