Following the announcement of the 2015 Sports Capital Grants for 2015 on Thursday, 8th October, Cork County were pleased to learn that they have been awarded a grant of €22,000 towards the cost of constructing a two bay net facility on the grounds north-western boundary.

The Sports Capital Programme is run by the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport with the aim of fostering an integrated and planned approach to developing sports and physical recreation facilities throughout Ireland.

The new facility would be situated adjacent to the club’s boundary with Sunday’s Well Tennis Club and land owned by Cork City Council with the imposing backdrop of St Vincent’s Church. The two bay net facility would offer a state-of-the-art training area for Cork County and Munster sides of all levels while reducing the workload on the artificial wicket at the eastern end of the playing square.

Further details of the project will be posted in due course.
